SUMMARY:Latiff Mohidin: Lines to Form
DESCRIPTION:Gajah Gallery Singapore presents Latiff Mohidin: Lines to Form\, a landmark solo exhibition by one of Malaysia’s foremost modernist artists. The exhibition unveils Latiff Mohidin‘s first-ever cast bronze sculpture from his iconic Pago Pago series. Presented alongside a selection of works on paper\, the exhibition\, in collaboration with LM Studio\, brings into dialogue a new direction that illuminates the continuity of Latiff’s artistic vision across more than seven decades. \nFirst conceived in the early 1960s\, Pago Pago emerged as Latiff’s vision of a cosmopolitan yet regionally rooted modernism. Shaped by his travels across Southeast Asia\, it evolved into a distinctive visual language informed by the region’s landscapes\, architecture\, and cultural traditions\, while advancing a distinctly Southeast Asian perspective on modernism. The series’ enduring significance is reflected in its international recognition\, including its presentation at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2018. \nCurated by Syed Muhammad Hafiz of LM Studio\, the exhibition introduces Burung 1 (Bird 1)\, realised in collaboration with Yogya Art Lab (YAL)\, Gajah Gallery’s foundry arm based in Yogyakarta. Scaled from his original ciment fondu sculpture of the same name\, the work was cast in silicon bronze under Latiff’s direction\, thus marking the artist’s first foray into bronze and extending the enduring language of Pago Pago into a new medium. \nComplementing Burung 1 (Bird 1) is a selection of works on paper from the Pago Pago\, Gelombang\, Rimba\, and Voyage series. Together\, they trace the evolution of Latiff’s visual language—from the formative Pago Pago works of the 1960s to the landscapes of Gelombang and Rimba\, and meditations on travel and cultural encounters in Voyage. Spanning more than six decades\, these works affirm the coherence and enduring vitality of one of Southeast Asia’s most influential artistic practices.

SUMMARY:VISIONS – ANIMA MUNDI 2026
DESCRIPTION:ITSLIQUID Group\, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association\, is pleased to announce the opening of VISIONS\, the third appointment of ANIMA MUNDI 2026. The exhibition will open on July 17\, 2026\, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice and will remain on view until July 31\, 2026. ANIMA MUNDI is the vital energy that flows through all things\, the subtle force connecting every form of existence\, from natural to artificial\, visible to invisible. Understood since Plato’s Timaeus as the soul of a living universe\, it returns today as\nan intuitive awareness of an invisible but active network that sustains transformation\, coexistence\, and renewal across matter\, time\, and life. It is the underlying rhythm that links ecosystems\, human and non-human entities\, and balances the continuous evolution of the world. Within this framework\, artists\, designers\, and architects are invited to explore how this universal energy manifests today\, investigating the subtle\ncorrespondences between soul and body\, humanity and nature\, and organic and synthetic worlds. Among the selected artists\, Andrew R. Gibbs’s layered compositions in “Cities of Change” explore the emotional impact of transforming urban landscapes\, where architecture and collective memory intertwine to reveal the fragile relationship between place and identity. Similarly\, Hiromasa Maeda’s “City Layered” interprets the glass-and-concrete skyline as a palimpsest of reflections\, shifting perspectives\, and fleeting traces of human presence\, suggesting that cities acquire meaning only through those who inhabit them. In parallel\, Nuvy Kim (N12Y.3) and Ilinca-Ruxandra Pipelea translate inner\nexperience into material form: drawing on the precision of her background in jewellery making\, Kim’s ceramics and paintings transform fractured perfection into ambiguous\, ungendered anatomies and psychologically charged spaces. Pipelea\, by contrast\, constructs immersive environments through vibrant chromatic fields and richly layered textures\, using colour and gestural accumulation to evoke the unseen rhythms of nature\, memory\, and emotional perception. A quiet\, introspective sensibility runs through the figurative work of Dominika Łuszcz\nand Marga Garcia: Łuszcz’s elongated\, folk-inflected portraits contain restrained psychological tension and cultural traces\, and Garcia’s “Surrectio” reads the figure as an emergent\, feminine rebirth – silent\, inward\, and resilient. This intimacy of feeling appears elsewhere in Inna Stelmachowicz’s meditative images\, where silence\, material\, and light render moments of honesty and inner tension\, and in Diana Rîmbu’s intuitive paintings\, which invite reflection and healing through emotional resonance grounded in an  architectural sense of space. Movement\, rhythm\, and the transmutation of performance into image animate the photographic work of Danny Johananoff\, whose slow-shutter studies dissolve choreography into painterly currents that make tradition feel timeless; Satyajett Salokhey’s large-scale ink gestures similarly capture bodily impulse and subconscious residue\, balancing control and spontaneity. Asnaby Samuel’s canvases introduce a mythic\, mnemonic counterpart: drawing on Sahara oral traditions\, his “Djinns” series treats drums and surfaces as carriers of memory and projection\, where attention and presence activate ambiguous spiritual forces. Finally\, Filomena Parra’s “A Dança do Vidro” offers a lyrical conclusion: glass becomes suspended light and gentle choreography\, a study in fragility and fluidity that echoes the formal restraint and emotional subtlety threaded through the show. VISIONS offers a cohesive journey through contemporary visual practices\, further enriched by a great selection of video artworks.

A related\nsensibility emerges in the photographic practice of Maciej Max Dominik\, who reduces the\nbody to its essential form through black and white imagery and a rigorous control of light\,\nin which each photograph seems to strip away every superfluous element\, allowing\nmovement and presence to surface in a dialogue where the body never appears fixed or\ndefinitive\, but rather constantly shaped by emotional and perceptual transformation.\nNadine Collado\, instead\, develops a practice driven by intuition and spontaneity through\nabstract compositions that take form through layering\, tonal variations\, and free gestures\,\ncreating open and mutable images that shift according to the viewer’s gaze\, in an intuitive\ndimension that resonates with the photography of Romina Calini\, where each image\noriginates from an immediate response to reality. Light and atmosphere transform the\nphotographic act into a personal perception rather than a simple registration of the visible\nworld\, moving between inner experience and a sensitive interpretation of their\nsurroundings.\nThe theme of waiting runs through the work of Paolo Cristiani\, who observes airports\,\nhotels\, and transitional spaces as suspended environments\, almost detached from time:\nhis images transform the experience of contemporary travel into a rarefied dimension\nwhere architecture and human presence coexist in silent balance.\nIn Conrad Schirmann’s painterly research\, depth becomes a generative force from which\nabstract landscapes slowly emerge from matter itself; built through layers and sudden\nopenings\, his chromatic surfaces evoke contemplative states and inner dimensions.\nThe photographs of Charlotte Stoffels conclude this journey through images that preserve\nfragments of time\, subtle details\, and delicate atmospheres.
