SUMMARY:PAINTINGS ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF LIFE - VENICE 2026 A solo exhibition by Peer\, The New Dutch Painter
DESCRIPTION:PAINTINGS ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF LIFE – VENICE 2026 \nA solo exhibition by Peer\, The New Dutch Painter \nOctober 27 – November 02\, 2026 \nPalazzo Pisani-Revedin\, Venice \n  \nITSLIQUID Group is pleased to announce the opening of “Paintings About the Origin of Life – Venice 2026”\, a solo exhibition by Peer\, The New Dutch Painter\, curated by Luca Curci and co-curated by Amaride Ferrante\, that will open on October 27\, 2026\, at 06:00 PM at Palazzo Pisani-Revedin\, in Venice. The exhibition will run until November 02\, 2026.\n\nThe exhibition brings together a selection of large-scale paintings investigating one of humanity’s oldest and most fascinating questions: where do we come from?\n\nAt the centre of Peer’s artistic research is the concept of abiogenesis\, the scientific hypothesis that life on Earth emerged from non-living matter through a process of chemical evolution. The term refers to the possible transition from simple non-living substances to the first forms of life\, a process that remains one of science’s greatest questions and mysteries. Peer transforms this idea into an imaginative visual universe populated by primordial creatures\, cosmic encounters and fragments of an ancient world. Rather than attempting to illustrate a scientific theory literally\, his paintings use the origin of life as a starting point for a broader reflection on existence\, evolution and our relationship with nature.\n\nHis visual language moves between science\, philosophy\, spirituality and humour\, creating narratives that are at once playful and profound. Behind their striking colours\, unusual characters and provocative titles lies a broader reflection on the origins of existence and on the interdependence of all living things.\n\nWe are not separate from nature. We are nature. The creatures presented from an imagined past become metaphors for contemporary human existence. They search\, struggle\, connect\, reproduce\, wander and adapt\, driven by the same forces that have shaped life for billions of years. Peer’s works invite viewers to imagine a world before humanity\, before language\, before civilisation: a time when life was still taking its first uncertain steps.\n\nThe emphasis on connection gradually shifts the exhibition from the origins of life towards the nature of existence itself. Peer’s creatures may belong to an imagined prehistoric world\, yet their experiences are immediately recognisable. They search for companionship\, struggle against uncertainty\, face change and attempt to find their way through an unfamiliar universe. \n\n“Lost in space” transforms this primordial displacement into a contemporary metaphor for humanity’s own sense of disconnection\, while “The Moon and Me” introduces a more solitary dimension\, connecting the vastness of the cosmos with the universal desire for meaning and belonging.\n\nThe passage of life from one generation to another also becomes part of this larger narrative. In “Nonno And His Rebellious Grandson“\, the primordial world becomes unexpectedly familiar\, using the relationship between two generations to reflect on continuity\, difference and the persistence of connection. Similarly\, “The Curious Twins” capture the wonder of encountering a universe that is still being formed. Their astonishment becomes our own: looking at these creatures\, the viewer is invited to reconsider the mystery of being alive. \n\nPeer also deliberately introduces humour\, irony and absurdity into a subject traditionally associated with scientific speculation and philosophical seriousness. The unusual characters and provocative titles allow the artist to approach profound questions without turning them into solemn statements. In “The Funny One“\, humour itself becomes a survival instinct\, while works such as “Mrs. Robinson\, I Presume?” transform an encounter between primordial beings into an unexpectedly human moment.\n\nTogether\, the works form a visual journey through emergence\, connection\, adaptation and transformation: the origin of life emerges as a continuous process\, shaping the ways living beings exist\, interact and evolve across time: the story of life is also our story.\n\nBy looking back towards the oceans\, the stars\, the first organisms and the primordial forces that shaped our planet\, Peer encourages us to reconsider our place within the larger web of existence. His paintings remind us that long before humanity began to define itself as separate from the natural world\, we were already part of it. \n  \nOrganized by ITSLIQUID Group \nCurator Luca Curci \nAssociate curator Amaride Ferrante \nGraphic designer Sara De Rosa \n  \nPAINTINGS ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF LIFE – VENICE 2026 \nA solo exhibition by Peer\, The New Dutch Painter \nPalazzo Pisani-Revedin \nSan Marco 4013A\, Venice\, Italy\n \n \nOpening \nOctober 27\, 2026 | 06:00 PM \nRSVP: info@itsliquid.com \nFree entry – Register here\n \n \nExhibition days \nOctober 28 – November 02\, 2026 \nMonday – Sunday | 10:30 AM – 01:30 PM and 02:30 PM – 06:00 PM \n  \nPeer\, The New Dutch Painter – About \n  \nPeer\, The New Dutch Painter is a Dutch contemporary artist whose vibrant\, large-scale paintings explore the emergence of life and humanity’s place within nature. Self-taught as an artist\, Peer developed a distinctive visual language based on bold colour\, expressive compositions\, unusual characters and thought-provoking titles. His paintings combine a strong sense of visual immediacy with narratives that encourage viewers to reflect on questions of existence\, evolution and human connection. Before dedicating himself fully to painting\, Peer spent many years as CEO of a leading Amsterdam strategic communication and design agency. His international career was built around strategy\, communication and storytelling – disciplines that continue to inform his approach to painting today. After his first exhibitions in Europe\, including presentations in the Netherlands and a Venice Biennale-related solo exhibition\, Peer is now expanding his presence within the international contemporary art scene. His artistic ambition goes beyond creating visually striking paintings. Through his work\, he seeks to spark dialogue\, inspire wonder and reconnect people with the larger story of life on Earth. \n

SUMMARY:Pán 《盤》
DESCRIPTION:Pán《盤》\n\nWhat are we shaped by? Pán《盤》is an evocative two-part full-length work by T.H.E Dance Company’s founding artistic director Kuik Swee Boon and resident choreographer Kim Jae Duk\, inspired by their shared and distinct cultural roots. Drawing from the Chinese creation myth of Pangu\, a fabled being whose body fragments into various elements of nature\, Pán《盤》 explores the continual meeting\, merging and evolution of cultures. Rich in meaning\, the Chinese title\, “盤” is commonly used across Mandarin-speaking cultures\, while also found in the native vocabularies of the Koreans\, Japanese and Vietnamese. Set to music by acclaimed Taiwanese musician Wang Yu-Jun and Kim Jae Duk’s original composition\, Pán《盤》is a testament to the beauty of cultural exchange and the richness it brings to artistic expression. Featuring guest artists Tung Ka Wai and Wheelsmith with diverse backgrounds\, the work continually evolves\, offering fresh perspectives and new dimensions as it invites audiences to discover how a shared positionality can emerge in our contemporary world. Originally commissioned by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre\, Pán《盤》first premiered at the Cultural Extravaganza 2021 as a livestream before receiving the Best Performance award at the Asian Arts Awards during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe\, and travelling internationally to Germany\, Italy\, China\, South Korea\, and Malaysia in multiple forms. Five years later\, the work finally returns home for its long-awaited Singapore live premiere. Pán《盤》invites audiences to reflect on a shared humanity beyond personal identity. Don’t miss this award-winning performance as T.H.E closes its 2026 season. There will be a post-show dialogue for both shows. In the spirit of championing diverse-ability artistry\, Audio description and creative captioning by Access Path Productions will be available for the Friday matinee\, with a subsidised ticket price of $25 for Persons With Disability (PWDs) and schools.

SUMMARY:Of Particles & Particularities by Aiman
DESCRIPTION:Alongside a profound journey into parenthood\, Aiman (b.1984\, Singapore) debuts Of Particles & Particularities at Haridas Contemporary. Featuring ten large-scale paintings that explore narrative identity\, the works piece together a contemplative landscape formed over time. Through a gradual assemblage of memory and experience gleaned from hindsight\, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider how personal histories shape our perception of space. \nDescribing his current series as “self-portraits without figures\,” Aiman constructs fragments of both encountered and imagined destinations\, ranging from vast deserts and imposing mountains to the shifting boundaries of the sea and sky. The artist approaches the work through two distinct lenses. First\, he examines the “particles of matter” that comprise the physical environments we recognize. In tandem\, he maps the “particularities of origin stories”—an ever-evolving intersection of memories\, histories\, relationships\, and desires that ground our existence. By merging the micro-elements of nature with the macro-elements of human emotion\, the collection captures the subtle existential nuances to which we are all uniquely attuned.

SUMMARY:Considering Matthew Shepard
DESCRIPTION:The Chorallective presents the Singapore premiere of Considering Matthew Shepard\, a groundbreaking 21st-Century fusion oratorio by Craig Hella Johnson (USA)\, originally written in response to real-life events surrounding the titular character. \n\n\n\nWith music serving as a vehicle for moving beyond tragedy and into understanding and healing\, Considering Matthew Shepard is a fusion oratorio that emphasizes on building emotional resilience through music-making as a community\, and fostering a culture of empathy that transcends differences. \nBlending classical choral writing with other genres of musical theatre\, opera\, literary arts (spoken word)\, pop\, blues and country music\, with a libretto that integrates a collection of text influenced by poetry\, journalism\, and artifacts\, Considering Matthew Shepard is a phenomenal crossover of musical styles that defies strict categorization\, and thus reflecting the “everyman” nature of the story and the lessons learnt. \n\n\n\nLed by Choy Siew Woon (Artistic Director) and Seong Hui Xuan (Stage Director)\, the performance is a gripping\, transformative exploration of universal themes — of mutual respect\, grief management\, anti-violence\, social justice and the restorative power of community. The music finds its methods of expression in deep feeling\, at once moving and galvanising. It’s everything we find we believe in time and again: the power of music and language combined and concentrated\, enough to fill the expanse of a night sky. \nCome and hear this story of us all.

SUMMARY:TERRAINS: A solo exhibition by Yong Wee Loon
DESCRIPTION:TERRAINS: Artist Yong Wee Loon’s practice before\, during and after his 2026 Paris residency. Terrain as inspiration\, not backdrop. \n\n\n\n\nTERRAINS traces the practice of Singapore artist Yong Wee Loon before\, during and after his 2026 residency at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the Cité Internationale des Arts\, Paris. \nPresented following his recognition as the Singapore and Southeast Asia UOB Painting of the Year 2024 winner\, the exhibition follows an artist who has remained true to the same curiosity while discovering new ways of expressing it. \nThe exhibition unfolds across three named grounds within the House of Tan Yeok Nee: Terra Firma\, the solid ground of ‘nostalgic’ streetscapes rendered with documentary care; Terra Incognita\, a reconstructed Parisian studio where a city of underpasses\, stairwells and passing figures comes into view; and Terra Nova\, new-found ground where that observation resolves into planes\, arcs and ellipses. Terrain\, here\, is not backdrop but material\, a surface absorbed\, slowly\, into a visual language still taking shape. \nGetting to House of Tan Yeok Nee: https://houseoftyn.sg/plan-your-visit/

SUMMARY:Dongpo: Life in Poems
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE SHOW\nDirected by world-renowned artist Shen Wei\, Dongpo: Life in Poems is a breathtaking contemporary dance opera that transcends time to explore the soul of the legendary Song Dynasty poet\, Su Dongpo. Through a masterful fusion of contemporary dance\, Chinese opera\, Tai Chi\, and an evocative score co-composed by Chen Qigang\, this production transforms ancient poetry into a visceral\, immersive experience. \nRather than a linear biography\, the performance weaves together 13 selected poems to reveal the universal emotions of the human condition—contemplation\, melancholy\, resilience\, and unrestrained joy. By integrating visual elements of calligraphy\, painting\, and seal engraving\, Shen Wei creates a poetic atmosphere that invites the audience to synchronize their breath with the dancers on stage. \nThis production is a bridge between cultures and eras. It requires no prior knowledge of Chinese history or language; instead\, it speaks the universal language of the body and spirit. Whether you are a fan of contemporary dance or a seeker of profound artistic resonance\, Dongpo: Life in Poems invites you on a spiritual journey to discover the rugged yet broad-minded soul of a poet from a millennium ago\, whose wisdom remains as relevant today as it was in the Song Dynasty. \nExperience the harmony of ancient tradition and modern vision. Come and find your own reflection in the life of Dongpo. \nBiography of Artists / Performers\nShen Wei is an internationally renowned multidisciplinary artist whose career spans dance\, choreography\, painting\, and directing.
