August 11 @ 11:00 am - September 11 @ 8:00 pm SMT

Art Village Pte Ltd, is launching the “1+1+1+” art exhibition at their newly opened studio galley in the heritage district of Tanjong Katong this August, in a bid to raise funds to aid Myanmar’s fight against the country’s political unrest and the currentpandemic that has challenged all of us to rethink the definition of ‘normal’ all around the world. This exhibition, led by Burmese artist and founder Ms Nyein Su, aims to raise public awareness of the dire situation that is happening in Myanmar and raise funds in support of survival efforts for the people of Myanmar.

The exhibition will present themes mainly encompassing Myanmar in its current times in thought
provoking artworks, aiming to raise awareness of the country’s dire state and present an opportunity for the audience to contribute to the situation as part of the global community. Featuring works by Su, it will also include pieces by Art Village’s talented lineup of multi-disciplinary teaching staff, along with many other local and regional artists from around Southeast Asia. “Where words are inadequate and voices are muted, we hope to be able to convey the spirit of the Burmese people as well our support for their efforts in the fight against political unrest and COVID-19,” said Su.

Myanmar’s currently volatile political climate has left its citizens unsure of the nation’s future, and
the worsening COVID-19 situation has resulted in a public health emergency. Exhibiting artist, Mr
Nyan Soe, is hopeful that the exhibition will be able to shed light on current events and generate
conversation amongst the audiences. “In the age of technology, news and information gets replaced and forgotten quickly. We hope that expressing ourselves through other mediums apart from words will be able to leave lasting impressions and spark conversations amongst the global community about Myanmar’s situation,” he said.

The “1+1+1+” exhibition will run from 11 August to 11 September 2021 at the new Art Village Tanjong Katong studio gallery located in Katong V. Admission is free, and all the artworks exhibited are for sale. Art Village will donate 50% of the sale proceeds to the various charities and support organisations in Myanmar.
