Online Showcase: Didin Jirot

Hatch Art Project is pleased to announce our new initiative: Online Showcases. The gallery is embarking on a year long ongoing series of online showcases that will feature young and emerging talents from the region. The initiative furthers the gallery’s commitment to creating a platform for young artists to showcase their works, share their creativity and engage the public, where the online showcases will introduce artists to our audiences and provide entry points to the up and coming artists’ practice.
For the first of the series, the gallery is pleased to present Indonesian artist Didin Jirot’s first solo showcase in Singapore. The online showcase will display a selection of recent sculptures and sculptural paintings by the young and emerging artist that are informed by his roots as a Balinese and influenced by the forms of the canang sari, a type of floral offering made by the Balinese Hindus in their prayers. The showcase is also accompanied by a short film and a series of photographs that offer a glimpse into the artist’s studio environment and the artist at work. His body of works that often employ the use of resin, automotive paint and varying strains of metal; that for him are tools that help in his communication of aspects of things that are metaphorical; and his practice, a ritualistic procession of self-introspection in navigating faith and spirituality.
The online showcase goes live from Friday, 26th June 2020 onwards.
