14 November 2021 – KAWS Holiday showcase at The Float @ Marina Bay

Sighted this morning at The Float @ Marina Bay: Kaws’ Companion, a 42m-long giant inflatable sculpture by American artist Kaws (aka Brian Donnelly).
But will it remain there for much longer? An interim injunction was served on the organisers of the Kaws: Holiday showcase – All Rights Reserved, a Hongkong-based creative studio – by non-profit organisation The Ryan Foundation on Saturday afternoon.
According to a Straits Times report, the court order cites breach of intellectual property rights and breach of confidence and requires that the exhibition stop taking place immediately. Sale of related merchandise and all advertising and publicity are to cease as well. All Rights Reserved have responded to state that the allegations are groundless, that they are seeking urgent legal advice and will be challenging the prohibitory injunction order.
In the meantime, the work was still up (it is not clear if the order requires it to be immediately dismantled) as of this morning, drawing crowds of interested members of the public. Stay tuned for more on this developing story!
