SUMMARY:TERRAINS: A solo exhibition by Yong Wee Loon
DESCRIPTION:TERRAINS: Artist Yong Wee Loon’s practice before\, during and after his 2026 Paris residency. Terrain as inspiration\, not backdrop. \n\n\n\n\nTERRAINS traces the practice of Singapore artist Yong Wee Loon before\, during and after his 2026 residency at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the Cité Internationale des Arts\, Paris. \nPresented following his recognition as the Singapore and Southeast Asia UOB Painting of the Year 2024 winner\, the exhibition follows an artist who has remained true to the same curiosity while discovering new ways of expressing it. \nThe exhibition unfolds across three named grounds within the House of Tan Yeok Nee: Terra Firma\, the solid ground of ‘nostalgic’ streetscapes rendered with documentary care; Terra Incognita\, a reconstructed Parisian studio where a city of underpasses\, stairwells and passing figures comes into view; and Terra Nova\, new-found ground where that observation resolves into planes\, arcs and ellipses. Terrain\, here\, is not backdrop but material\, a surface absorbed\, slowly\, into a visual language still taking shape. \nGetting to House of Tan Yeok Nee: https://houseoftyn.sg/plan-your-visit/
