I.F. Gallery is proud to present Between Worlds – Akio Ohmori Collection Exhibition. Through sculptural works charged with an untamed otherworldliness — dragons, arowanas, jackalopes— Ohmori invites viewers into a realm where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, capturing a presence that is at once mysterious, weighty, and dreamlike.
Ohmori approaches his practice foremost as a sculptor, grounded in the traditions of wood carving. Working with wood and metal, Ohmori creates sculptures that quietly breathe with presence. From animal forms to abstract mirrored surfaces, his works bridge material and mystery, inviting wild and mythical presences into domestic spaces.
Ohmori’s practice thrives in the liminal space between reality and imagination. Through meticulous craftsmanship and sensitivity to material, he creates objects that embody a sense of duality – evocative and functional, expressive yet grounded, surreal yet serene.
Between Worlds – Akio Ohmori Collection Exhibition marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in Singapore, showcasing a diverse range of works never exhibited outside Japan. The exhibition features small, contemplative pieces and larger sculptures incorporating mirrored surfaces that gently extend the presence of the carved forms. These pieces offer visitors a rare opportunity to engage with the distinctive qualities of Ohmori’s practice – an exploration of the space between worlds: quiet, reflective, and deeply present.
