DARE Festival 2023

December 22, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm SMT

The DARE Festival is thrilled to return for its second year, on a much bigger scale, and with a more power-packed event line up. Themed “Dynamic Artists Reimagining Everything”, this unique festival is an entertaining and immersive experience that celebrates diversity, inclusion and artistry through fostering creative collaborations between mainstream artists and artists with disabilities.

DARE Festival is the flagship event of Collective Perspectives, a social enterprise dedicated to enabling, equipping and empowering artists with disabilities, by working with them on their creative projects from ideation to implementation. At the very core of DARE, abilities and creativity are championed regardless of background or circumstance.

“This inclusive festival serves to raise the profiles of artists with disabilities, venture into new spaces with artistic collaboration, and more importantly, forging friendships that are founded on mutual appreciation, dreams, hope and love,”shared Lim Lee Lee, a multi-hyphenate in the discipline of arts and theatre, who is the co-founder of Collective Perspectives and the producer of DARE Festival. Born totally blind, Lee Lee is also a recipient of the Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards for Achievement in 2022. She adds, “The Arts do not see differences, but open up many dimensions.”

Supported by The National Arts Council, DARE Festival 2023 is a family-friendly full day event, taking place on 22 December 2023 at *SCAPE Singapore on Orchard Road, starting with The Day Show that includes live music, inclusive games, film screenings, a magic show, a captivating short play, and ending on a high note with the Finale Concert in the evening.

One of the main highlights of DARE Festival 2023 is the collaboration between Spain’s eminent neo-cubism artist, Miguel Ángel Belinchón Bujes (Belin), and two of Singapore’s most distinguished artists with disabilities, Eugene Soh and Raymond Lau. This remarkable partnership between an internationally acclaimed artist and two local artists with disabilities is not only a first for Singapore, but it is also a pioneering initiative on a global scale. This groundbreaking cross-cultural artistic collaboration is also supported by The Embassy of Spain.

What To Expect At The Day Show

  • The Day Show will begin with the artistic collaboration between Belin, Eugene and Raymond. They will be creating a piece of mural that embodies the very essence of diversity and inclusion, and proceeds from the sale of this artwork will be donated to Honour Singapore.
  • The inaugural DARE Film Fest in partnership with Honour Singapore, Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Cinewav will launch at DARE Festival 2023. A curation of short films that shine light on Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will be screened.
  • Excerpts from a play titled  “ABSENCE”, written by Stephanie Esther Fam, will make its debut at DARE Festival 2023. Stephanie is a multi-faceted artist with cerebral palsy. She appeared on stage recently with President  Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Mrs Tharman at the President’s Star Charity Show 2023.

On top of these big moments happening throughout the day, there will be multiple booths including interactive inclusive games such as ‘Super Tic Tac Toe’ where participants will play the game blindfolded, other live performances, and an insightful talk on accessible technology. Catch a mesmerising street magic performance brought to you by passionate, one-handed magician, Jackie Chionh, and get serenaded by the street busking duo, Gaston and Lucas.
