Gathering Ground

September 16 - November 16

Gathering Ground is a fresh series of community pop-ups that invite you to immerse yourself in the arts with us. As The Substation’s latest initiative, it embodies our long-standing commitment to nurturing independent voices and fostering unexpected collaborations. From 16 Sep – 16 Nov 2024, let’s get together right here in Singapore where we’re transforming familiar spaces into sites of creative exploration. These activities showcase the artistic development that has been flourishing at The Sub throughout the year:

  • Community Fundraising – re-create The Substation’s murals online, in collaboration with The Sub mural artists, and to raise funds for our continuing mission to spotlight and support independent practitioners at every stage of their creative practice
  • Multidisciplinary Activations Experience site-specific sound performances and installations created by Lynette Quek, our resident Sub+ Incubator Collabs artist, at a beloved local bookshop; or delve into ‘OPEN END’, a multi-sensory exhibition featuring works by Chong Li-Chuan, Urich Lau, and Dr Adrian Tan, exploring The Substation’s rich archival history through innovative artistic interpretations
  • Arts Experiences – Engage with an eclectic mix of creative practitioners in our Sub 45 Arts Experiences, a series of hands-on workshops in various disciplines—both in-person and online.
  • New Works-in-Progress – Witness platform theatre works-in-progress blending literature, visual art, and mythology on a 4×2 space, exploring human psyche and generational trauma by new theatre collective Static Metamorphosis

Gathering Ground is more than just an event series—it’s a stepping stone for creativity, a platform for fresh perspectives, and a meeting point for our community. Whether you’re an emerging artist, a seasoned creator, or simply someone who delights in new experiences, there’s a place for you here.

Join us as we gather to ground ourselves in shared artistic experiences, embracing the boundless possibilities that arise when diverse voices come together. Details and ticketing info at www.substation.org/gathering-ground.
