Collage making workshop held in conjunction with “REMOTE” exhibition by Ahmad Shukri Mohamed, Mohd Al-khuzairie Ali & Umibaizurah Mahir@Ismail
When you hear the word ‘REMOTE,’ what springs to mind? Join us at our art making session led by Singaporean artist Joanna Maneckji to learn about the art form of collage through one of her collages “A Place Far Away” and to make your own collage expressing what ‘REMOTE’ means to you. This accessible art form has deep powers of relaxation and helps preserve our planet by reusing paper to create new things of beauty. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own saved paper collection if you wish. Magazines, photos, maps and brochures are all welcome.
About the artist
JOANNA MANECKJI is a Singaporean author, educator and artist who transforms seemingly random pieces of paper into expressive works of art that challenge perceptions, spark joy, and promote self-understanding. “A Place Far Away” is a collage from her first illustrated children’s book, “Letters to My Grandfather”. This year, “A Place Far Away” has been exhibited at the traveling show “Postcards from Utopia” in Sarasota, Florida and at the Illustrators’ Gallery at NAFA in the Singapore Children’s Book Festival.
