reTHINGing Materiality — Contemporary Sculpture 2021 is part of the Sculpture Society Singapore (SSS) 20th Anniversary Show that aims at exploring the extended definition of sculpture making and 3D art in the contemporary art scene.
As a collaboration with NAFA, the exhibition will represent the practices of both NAFA alumni and SSS members. More than 30 artworks assembled will feature figurative and abstract sculptures, ceramics, installation as well as new media art. These works will be displayed at the Lim Hak Tai Gallery as well as the gallery window exhibition space facing Bencoolen Street. The artists’ research and aspirations will cover a broad range of subjects, materials and methods that seek to offer new ways of thinking or rethinking the importance of the physical experience in the appreciation of sculptural or 3-dimensional art and their makers’ outcomes.
