Wild Fragments – A solo exhibition by Valerie Ng

July 2, 2022 - July 30, 2022

Wild Fragments is a solo exhibition by Valerie Ng, where her observations of fragments of nature connect with experiments in eco-friendly art making. Created during the global pandemic in the past two years, her paintings are inspired by sightings of nature adapting to and re-claiming urban spaces – flowering weeds and animals emerging in the city, while rooftop gardens and urban farms bloomed.

She also explores concepts of climate change resilience and eco-friendly art making in her recent practice – creating new large scale papier-mache sculptures from scrap paper, and a stitched canvas textile inspired by the Japanese upcycling practice of boro. Wild Fragments is also the first time Valerie is exhibiting her augmented reality artworks – smaller objects with interactive elements that extend the narrative of mending our fragmented connections with nature.
