Malaysian-born Ooi Kok Chuen is the author of the novel, Mahsuri: A Legend Reborn. He has written more than 100 art books and catalogues, and is an art columnist with Penang Monthly. He has been awarded the Australian Cultural Award (1991), Goethe-Institut Fellowship (1989) and the accolade of Art Writer of the Year in 2003 and 2008, by the National Art Gallery. He is also a researcher-writer for the Henry Butcher Art Auction catalogue and has been involved in Art Expo Malaysia since its inception in 2007.
