ART SEASONS is excited to present three-time award winner of the prestigious UOB Painting of the Year Award, Singapore artist Lester Lee Solo Exhibition – “Artificial Intelligence I Real Awareness”.
Award-winning Singaporean artist Lester Lee questions what it means to our existence when machines are behaving more and more human-like – what is artificial vs real; what is intelligence vs awareness.
In his latest series, Lee delves into the impacts of digitalisation on our lives, exploring its influence on our social dynamics, personal authenticity, political affiliations, and even our sense of security. Through his art, Lee aims to navigate the complexities of this digital revolution, catalyse by the rapid development of technologies like artificial intelligence.
Employing a novel artistic approach, Lee integrates his distinct colour palette and glitch elements into his work, symbolising the omnipresent influence of technology in our modern existence. These elements serve as a visual response to the ubiquitous digital landscape and its pervasive effects on our daily routines. His canvas serves as a mirror to reflect the fragmented yet interconnected nature of life. Through his intuitive process, Lee eschews traditional sketches, allowing each piece to evolve organically as he delves deeper into his subject matter.
Lee’s works serve as contemplations of the evolving technological landscape and its impact on our lives. Through his art, he urges the viewer to pause, create space for mindfulness and awareness, and consider the well-being of our souls amid the digital chaos. While Lee’s works are his response to the current times, they also offer us a chance to capture this moment so we can look back years later and enjoy a different appreciation as the future changes.
