STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery (STPI) has launched Print Screen, a new exhibition series by Artspace @ Helutrans. This first edition features print- and paper-based works by Isabel & Alfredo Aquilizan, which the artist couple created during their residencies at STPI back in 2017.
Complementing this selection of works is a film screening room next door. These videos opened our eyes to art production in Indonesia and the Philippines, as they introduced artist and artisan communities from those countries and their struggles while reflecting on how creative practices can be sustained in these communities.
The videos are definitely worth sticking around for out as they also introduce Isabel & Alfredo Aquilizan’s interest in building a community-based arts practice — though we’d recommend that you scan the QR code outside the screening room for more details about each video, as the videos don’t currently have English subtitles.
Overall, we liked how the videos were meaningfully paired with the exhibition to offer more context and new insight into the works’ production and artists’ practice at large.
This edition of Print Screen runs till 20 November 2022 at ArtSpace @ HeluTrans, 39 Keppel Rd, #01-05, Singapore 089065. Click here to learn more.
