6 July 2022 – Wu Guanzhong: Travelling with the Master at the National Gallery Singapore

In 2008 Wu Guanzhong, one of China’s foremost contemporary artists, donated 113 of his works to Singapore’s national collection. Together with a previously donated work, they represent the most valuable donation of artworks to any Singapore museum to date.

Committed to showcasing the collection in a series of regularly updated exhibitions, the National Gallery Singapore’s latest show (it’s 6th), Wu Guanzhong: Travelling with the Master, opens this Saturday, 9 July.

What’s new and refreshing about this one? Well, for the first time ever, the Gallery has invited 4 of its docents (volunteer guides) to collaborate with curator Jennifer K.Y. Lam in putting this exhibition together.

How has their perspective influenced and shaped this show? How different is it from previous “professionally curated” exhibitions? Check out the show and let us know what you think! In the meantime, scroll through the pics and captions for a preview.
